Eid Al-Adha “Festival of Sacrifice” or “Greater Eid”, Eid Al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic calendar. It is celebrated all around the world, where people families visit, kids are given money, and Eid sweets are served to well-wishers and relatives. And like each year this post is about the sweets I prepared for Eid.

Eid Al-Adha – 2017

Eid Al-Adha “Festival of Sacrifice” or “Greater Eid”, Eid Al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic calendar. The festivities last for three days or more depending on the country. Eid Al-Adha occurs the day after the pilgrims conducting Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia by Muslims worldwide, descend from Mount Arafat.

To Aleppo With Love – Kibbeh Meqliyeh Darawish

Aleppo is known as “the home of stuffed vegetables and kibab (plural of kibbeh) حلب أم المحاشي و الكبب. According to “The Encyclopedia of Aleppo” there are more than 60 kinds of Kibbeh in Aleppo.

Kibbeh Meqliyeh Darawish is deep fried kibbeh similar to Kibbeh Meqliyeh, but in Aleppo is called Darawish and characterized by the above shape.

Labneh

Labneh is made from fresh yogurt which has been well drained to remove all whey. Labneh, a word derived from the word “Laban”, Laban means yogurt. Labneh is popular in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine. Besides being used fresh, labneh is also formed into balls (Arabic for Labneh Balls is Labneh Mda’abaleh), sometimes covered with herbs or spices, and stored in olive oil. It is often eaten for breakfast with bread, cucumber, olives and fresh mint.
