About Me

February 20th, 2009

My name is Dimah (pronounced Dee-ma). The name “Dimah” is Arabic and means “rain that falls without lightning or thunder.”

I am from Syria, born in Hama , and raised in Damascus and Aleppo. Currently, I live in Dubai.

I started blogging in February 2009, choosing the name “Orange Blossom Water” because it is unique, special, and wonderful. For me, orange blossom water connects the Middle East to the rest of the world, as it is an important ingredient in our cuisine and has become popular globally. In Arabic, it’s called “Maa Al-Zaher” or “Ma Zaher.”

Most of my posts focus on Syrian cuisine, sharing dishes and techniques that you won’t find in cookbooks. Syrians typically learn recipes from their mothers and grandmothers rather than from books or chefs.

I’m not a professional photographer. Up until this post I used my Sony Ericsson K800 mobile’s camera, then I got  Sony Cybershot DSC-W210 camera and used it for the first time in this post. I acquired a Canon 650D and used it for the first time in this post.
