Ma’arouk Ramadan (Ma’arouk Halab / Ma’arouk Halabi) is a sweet bread specially prepared for the Holy Month of Ramadan and it is a specialty of Aleppo, but it is also popular in other cities in Syria. The bread is flavored with mahlab, fennel, anise, and cumin. The surface is brushed with grape molasses, topped with sesame seeds and nigella seeds.

Lahmeh Bi-Karaz or Kabab Bel-Karaz is Cherry Kabab, an authentic Aleppine dish that combines sour and sweet taste. It is lamb meatballs “kabab” cooked with small sour cherries “washneh” كرز الوشنة. Served on pieces of Arabic bread cut in triangles and scattered with pine nuts and parsley.
