Eid Al-Adha, Sweets – 2019

Eid Al-Adha “Festival of Sacrifice” or “Greater Eid”, Eid Al-Adha annually falls on the 10th day of the month of Dhul Hijja of the lunar Islamic calendar. It is celebrated all around the world, where people families visit, kids are given money, and Eid sweets are served to well-wishers and relatives. And like each year this post is about the sweets I prepared for Eid.

Above: Baklawa Bel-Fustuq (Baklava with Pistachios)
Pistachio nuts fill delicate layers of light filo pastry dough.
Above: Bouchnikha
Type of Moroccan dessert. A dough flavored with anise, fennel and cinnamon, rolled using Pasta machine, then shaped in a special way, deep fried and dipped in thick sugar syrup.
Above: Homemade Nawashef Mshakkalleh (Assorted Cookies)
Nawashef means sweets that are not dipped in sugar syrup and all are made using one dough.

Asabe’e At-Tamer: Date fingers, dough filled with date paste and coated with sesame seeds.
Ma’amoul Bet-Tamer: Dough balls filled with date paste.
Ghraibeh Shamiyeh: A very delicate melt in your mouth kinda cookies, decorated with pistachios.
