Eid Al-Fitr “Smaller Eid”, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Today is the second day of Eid Al-Fitr.

Ma’arouk Ramadan (Ma’arouk Halab / Ma’arouk Halabi) is a sweet bread specially prepared for the Holy Month of Ramadan and it is a specialty of Aleppo, but it is also popular in other cities in Syria. The bread is flavored with mahlab, fennel, anise, and cumin. The surface is brushed with grape molasses, topped with sesame seeds and nigella seeds.
